Drifters

A recently submitted assignment for TAFE. We had to draw topics out of a hat and illustrate using a combination of traditional and digital collage techniques. My topic was "sweet" which was a bit difficult for me to get my head around as pink and kitchy are not really my thing.

I wanted something with a little narrative. The original concept was a lot more detailed but was cut back massively. Partially so as not to overwhelm the topic, mostly due to time. I'm itching to tweak things (like add shadows! oops) when I get back to my tablet. This was all done with a mouse - not my usual way of working.

I scanned in a lot of actual sugarstuffs to build the image: jellybeans, snakes, fairyfloss, allsorts, marshmallows, cola bottles, boiled lollies etc. Most of which were never used in the end, except to keep me on a 3 day sugar high, hehe.
